My Take
This is one of the most influential games in my entire video game history. A lot of people consider Final Fantasy to be the peak of JRPG, but I consider this to be the peak of that genre. The story is mind-blowing. The characters are memorable. The music is brilliant, and then everything just changes randomly, so one of the most important characters you’ve been using or holding on to is gone, just gone completely, and you have to deal with that fact. I feel like the struggles you have to deal with throughout this game and the time-warping nature of this game, influenced hundreds of games that came after it.
