One of the greatest strengths of the Internet is also one of its greatest weaknesses: anonymity. It emboldens people to speak out when they normally wouldn’t, but it also empowers people to speak out when they probably shouldn’t. It protects the cautious and the caustic, and the former is too often drowned out by the latter. But I suppose that’s to be expected and accepted because all great freedoms come at a cost.
